Join Sydney's Best Recreational Double Boat Dive
Whether you are a visiting diver from overseas or an avid Sydney diver, our recreational double boat dives are the best way to experience Sydney's underwater world. With over 40 years experience of diving in Sydney, we cater for all levels of certification and experience, from all training agencies such as GUE, PADI, BSAC, NAUI and SSI.
Unlike other operators, which dive a limited amount of sites repeatedly, we have over 30 different dive sites in and around the coast of Sydney Harbour, which we have scheduled in rotation in our dive calendar, spanning a wide range of topography and marine life. They range in depth from 10-18m to cater to Open Water Divers, but vary in terms of difficulty.
From Sharks To Weedy Seadragons - Experience Marine Life Unlike Anywhere Else
Marine life in Sydney is truly exceptional, as it has a mix of tropical and subtropical species all year round and is home to some of the most iconic marine life on earth. There is no better way to discover it than on one of our unique boat dive sites.
Every weekend, we are diving one of our 2 key Grey Nurse Shark colonies. While they might look ferocious because of their protruding teeth, these gentle creatures are a delight to dive with, as they don't mind cruising along up close to divers and they make great photo subjects. In summer these colonies get up to 30 Grey Nurse Sharks, while numbers in winter typically reduce down to between 1-10 resident sharks. We also regularly see Sydney's other shark species, such as the Wobbegong Shark, the Port Jackson Shark, the Blind Shark or the Dusky Whaler Shark all year round.
Another iconic species we dive with is the Weedy Seadragon, which is endemic to NSW waters and cannot be found anywhere else in the world! These beautifully coloured creatures hide in kelp and are related to seahorses.
Another highlight is Sydney's Australian Fur Seal colony. Diving with these playful and inquisitive mammals will leave you with unforgettable memories and a smile on your face.
Other favourite marine life that we dive with all the time are Giant Cuttlefish, which are likely to come up and grab you during mating season, rare and radiant Eastern Blue Devil Fish, Flying Gurnards, Octopus, as well as the massive and imposing Bull Rays, which can get as big as a Manta Ray! The list is almost endless...
Topographies vary from sheer rock walls to boulder fields, ledges, and reefs covered in over 60 species of colourful sponges, as well as hard and soft corals, often shrouded in schools of fish.
What To Expect On Your Double Boat Dive
At Sydney Dive Charters we pledge to make your boat dive experience as hassle-free, safe and personable as possible.
We pick you up at 2 different convenient pick up locations in Sydney, in Little Manly and Rose Bay. Both these pickup locations are within 10 - 30min travel time of our dive sites. If you need hire gear, it will await you onboard already set up and tested for your convenience and our staff will give you a full hire gear briefing before departure. Our purpose built dive boat is a catamaran with twin hulls providing a perfect stable dive platform and reducing vessel movement. It holds a maximum of 10 divers, so you will always dive in a small group with at least 1-2 dive guides per group. Our staff are all highly qualified and first aid trained.
Your double dive day will roughly take 4 hours, during which we will dive 2 different dive sites across Sydney. When you come up for your surface interval after your first dive you will be met with hot towels to warm you up, as well as biscuits, chips and a hot beverage or soup. After your second dive we will again drop you off at your preferred location.
Top Of The Range Hire Gear
Our scuba diving hire gear is all top of the range scuba diving equipment. We believe our divers deserve the best dive equipment when they dive with us, unlike other clubs who provide low to medium quality hire gear which is old or doesn’t fit you correctly. We have full range of the very best quality gear including Scubapro, Halcyon, Faber steel tanks, hoods, torches, Sharkskin vests and 7mm wetsuits to keep your extra warm. You can easily add on any hire gear you might need when booking your double boat dive.
